Mummified
Ever wanted to be Mummified? Ah, my apologies, I'm not talking like a true mummy in a museum or a pyramid. I mean, wrapped in the leather straps, and ropes your dominatrix or dom has you in. But take those fantasies and let them become something more - on a page. Mmhm, naughty, dirty, soak-your-screen porn for your eyes and brain.
Mummified will flex those imagination muscles you've got going on up there. Let those fantasies change you. Let them create a bulge or a wet spot fit enough for a feast! These fictional stories are sure to be something that'll feed the hungriest of smut readers in the dead of night.
Design - Simple Enough
There's a unique fact about websites and what they're providing. On one hand, you'd want a streaming site or video site to have a pretty good looking website. You'd want the U.I. (user interface) to look really clean, too. When it comes to reading something, especially a story that's all text, it's easy to work around that. You'd ideally want a white background, black text, and a clean font. You don't want people squinting to understand something in plain text or in italics.
Mummified does that. This site has been around since the late 90s and the way its designed reflects that. Sites now for reading look a bit more modern, a bit more shaped around the edges. Mummified is bare bones but it serves its purpose easily enough.
The main page of Mummified is set up to show off some key places you'd want to check out. A menu, some recents stories, and links. The good part of Mummified is the stories themselves. Their design for the stories' pages are clean and easy.
After finding a story you'd like to read, you're then popped over to that chapter's/story's page. It's clean to show the title, author, and their "storycodes." More on that soon. Then, you have the rest of the story beneath it. They've picked a decent enough font for reading. On desktop, the stories are sort of wide. The stories aren't confined to boundaries. So, the words end up going across the screen before bouncing down once it reaches your scroll bar.
On mobile, this site is even better. In fact, it's probably better to read these stories on your phone. A phone is more compact even though screens are bigger. But the way phones are formatted and the text, everything is set up more like paragraphs. You can go through and read, scroll, and enjoy yourself without having everything stretched out.
Content - A Naughty Library
Mummified is a site that's all about people making stories that involve bondage. And there's a lot that goes into bondage, let me tell you. Whips, straps, ropes, ties, heels, leather... Sorry, I drifted off. Mummified plays more into the fantasies of being wrapped up in a bondage setting. So, many of the ads and the stories you'll see will deal with the same fantasies.
Their produced content is enough to fill a personal library. You can go through Mummified and find something that will pique your interest - if you're interested in something like this. Mummified breaks things down very easily for people to find the stories their looking for. And there are loads of "gender codes," "levels of consent," and more. If the search is a bit much and you aren't sure where to start, they offer other alternatives off on a sidebar.
If you're unsure about what "storycodes" are, Mummified offers an entire page full of these codes. These codes are used in stories to help people understand what's going on in the story. You may be interested in some codes but not others. This helps you to easily manage what to read and what to just avoid.
Reading Porn (The Positives)
Reading erotic stories aren't for everyone. While there are sites that cover a wider range of erotic stories, Mummified found a genre they're good at. You rarely see stories involving people being wrapped up, tied down, and fucked. Or those being put through some orgasm denial. The stories of Mummified offer so much more than just bondage literature.
What I find to be so damn amazing is their level of detail with the storycodes. To name a few in "gender codes," you have: M/f (male dominating female) and F/m (female dominating male). There are more that are for a solo male or female and then which POV its being told from, male or female.
They then break down the sex codes. These are the types of play that's going on: anal, gay, masturbation, and a bunch more. But the list keeps going. You'll find codes that explain the type of restraints being used, the locations, fetishes, themes, levels of consent, and "content codes." These content codes are like a leveling system. How hard does the story go with the bondage and sex involved. Either a lighter level or a harder, hardcore type of story.
Their story search is also very well done. Aside from the design of being quite old, it still works perfectly. You can search for stories based on their codes. And, in a larger box, they have a few, what I'm guessing to be "popular codes." If one of those looks sexy, clicking on it will highlight it in green. Beneath that, stories will appear based on the code you clicked on. And this also works with filling out the other search information above that, too.
Ease of access in finding the stories you want to read is always a good thing. You're wanting to read these erotic stories not waste time sifting through a shit ton of stories by writers. And there are a lot of stories on Mummified. You can even search stories alphabetically or search authors in the same way.
What I also love is how they assist people entering who are inspired to write their own shit. They give you all the information to understand what you're writing for and what fetishes. You can even email the author of the story you're reading. That's something really cool. It's a little risky too, just allowing their email to be out there. Typically, you'd have a comment system or a commendation thing in place. But it's still nice to voice your love for what someone has written.
Needs Some Love (The Negatives)
Mummified is doing a lot good. However, their negative points come by way of not being so current. The overall idea of the website is good and is still working for them. The design of the site is a terrible flaw. It looks extremely old and dated. It's from the late 90s for fuck sake. It needs to be updated, severely.
Sites now don't look like this. We're not running those old dinosaur egg, white macintosh computers. Ironically enough, the design that shouldn't be changed is the pages the stories are on once you're reading them. Those are clean and you won't really find anything too different.
The other downside is being more social. How many more writers could they reach if they tried? Things are very tight knit when they could expand some more.
Give Her Some Diamonds (My Suggestions)
Rework the entire design of Mummified. Seriously. Have you clicked on their forum? Fucking hell it's terrible. It works, it's a forum, you know. But a lackluster design. Doesn't scream, "spend time here with me." It's more like get in, find what you're looking for, and leave. The overall aesthetic is where Mummified is lacking. It still looks good given how old the design is but it could use a tune-up.
The other thing is to be more social. A lot of sites are on social media or have created communities, big or small, on these sites. Mummified should think of doing the same. This is a difficult one to pull off though. Their fetish is so niche, so tight that it may be hard to find that expansion. Given some research and looking around, they could find a place outside of their site to grab more writers/readers.
In Conclusion
Mummified has come in, years ago, and done something great with unique bondage stories. Everything involves understanding the fetishes and the type of sex you're into and reading it. They've done a good job of finding people, being there to be found, who enjoy being wrapped up and tied down. These stories are for those people. And these stories, as they say, can be either "fiction or from a real experience."
Having this voice and sharing something like this with other people is a huge thing. Not many places allow this sort of thing.
