Swingular (update aff link)

Swingular is a website with over 15-years of backing. For over a decade, they've been connecting swingers with swingers to have a good night of sex. This is a "dating site" or a spot to hook up with others. Swingular talks big about being a site with millions worth of free profiles for their users. There is a great deal of "security" with these profiles. Before getting into it, you should know that anyone can create an anonymous profile on Swingular.

With such a history, does Swingular actually have what it takes to remain good? Or have they been falling apart?

Design - Good for Desktop

Swingular, seeing as they've been around since 2001, you'd hope would've done some sprucing up. Their website looks good as a first impression. They've got some nice images in the background of some naughty swingers doing their thing. It's always good to incorporate that theme throughout the website. Show people having sex, naked, or with some sexual item.

On desktop, their site is laid out very well and nothing is left feeling cluttered. Their "features" section is set into squares to show off everything the site offers. However, on mobile is where Swingular drops the ball.

There are two ways to view Swingular on mobile. One is a direct port of the desktop version. The other is a "mobile" specific version of Swingular. The port of the desktop version is messy. And not the good messy where you need some towels. No, it's clunky and cluttered. It's a real mess. Their mobile-specific version isn't any better.

You'd expect everything you see on their desktop version to be there in a better way. Much more formatted. Unfortunately, Swingular's mobile-specific version of their site has nothing. There's a large header with their logo and an area that has you log in or create an account. But nothing else. Where's the "features" section? The photos of users from the site? Where is anything that they are other than a member's login?

Getting back to the main website, Swingular includes some other areas for people. It's advice from them for "single men" and some other areas. The designs of these pages, unfortunately, are terrible. Their forum screams 2001 vibes. Not even a 2000s girl, you know? She's not thick and bubbly. This forum is extremely dated and has had no love given.

Content - They Talk About It

It's okay to have some dating where there's not a lot shown to us outsiders, you know? I get it, they don't want me sticking my nose in places where it rightfully belongs. Fine. Regardless, it does make a person want something more.

Swingular delivers in a way that can put someone who's curious at ease. At least during that time, they can decide if this place is right for them. They include some information on their "features." This section is basically providing information on some of the services they offer. You have "instant messaging," "parties & events," and more.

They then offer some information on people considering becoming a swinger. What is a swinger lifestyle? Can you just go in and fuck anybody? You know? I'm curious!

They then offer a page that's called "Swinger Sites." It's a bit of an odd page. At first, it makes it seem like they're linking you to other sites also for swingers. That's not exactly the case. It's more like they're just jerking themselves off with this page. It's all about them and what they do. It's not talking about other sites that could offer advice or something. Because why would they?

I Like the Thought (The Positives)

I like what Swingular has going on here. First off, their "features" are a conversation starter. Their "Swinger Search" allows their users to get really into the details of who they would like to find. As said on their website, you can search "individual" people and can also find someone based on location.

Here's something unique, Swingular has a "booty call" function. Think about that. They do the work and all you do is fuck. Their booty call function is like a ping. You can post that you're looking for a booty call and the site will bring it to people's attention. Now, this only works for people within "50 miles" of the person who posted the booty call "ad" or whatever. And, also per the site, it lasts "four hours."

You can even have a "meet up." These are quite similar to their booty call section. But a meet-up is more for finding friends or someone just to hang with. But, hey, even a meet-up can lead to sex, right?

They then offer information on swinger "parties & events." These events can bring some comfort to people who may be nervous about this sort of thing. You never know who's going to be there. The good thing is, a person would need to purchase a ticket for the venue, RSVP, and it's all through Swingular. So, hopefully, that means something.

Their "Swinger Resources" category is well thought out. They've come with some thoughts on why a person should be a swinger if they're considering it. Swingular then goes into some advice for single men getting into this. I am surprised they don't offer anything for some single women! I'm sure there are some horny girls that need some advice, too!

They then go into a "Swinger Location." Calling all swingers! This page, at first thought, seems like a way to find events or something. But no. You're finding actual swingers in whatever state you click on. Then, it's broken down even more to the towns/cities in that state. It's really nice. Only thing is, members can only utilize this. It may be more worth mentioning this but not making it something outsiders can click on. It just leads nowhere.

A Nice Face but Nothing Else (The Negatives)

Swingular gets off to a decent start. They have some nice things they offer like advice, decent features, and search capabilities. Hell, even their events are good. Great. But everything else beyond this main page that we outsiders can see is kind of lacking and just left to die.

The other pages of this website are so poorly designed, that it's borderline impossible to read. Literally. You think I'm joking. The font they've decided to go with and the color of it make no sense. It's the lightest of gray on a white background with a font that's extremely thin. Who the fuck said, "yes... do it?"

I also have no idea why their forum still looks the way it does. It looks like the back end of the old dinosaur macintosh computer. Um, why is it so compact - and not in a good way. It's hard to understand who the original poster is on some of these forum threads. And then, how do you follow a conversation. Everything said after is mashed together that it looks like one run-on fucking paragraph.

A company like Swingular, which talks so high and mighty about "millions of members," handles its website like this? Websites are everything for a company. It needs to work and it needs to look good. And people need to be able to fucking read it. If you can't do that, you've done nothing but obtain a URL.

Fix It (My Suggestions)

Firstly, fix your fucking pages. Use a font people can read and use black text on a white background. I'm not going to squint my fucking eyes to try and read a page that's just you jerking yourself off. I'm not going to break my neck leaning into my monitor to read some advice. No, properly design the website first.

Second, fix the damn forum. There's nothing good about their "forum." It's an old, terribly old message board. You can't follow a single topic here. You can read sentences and think it's a different person saying it. But you'll never really know unless you sign in and try to use it.

Then comes their attempt at being more modern and social. Offering something for phones is nice. Everyone uses a phone. Everyone has a damn phone. But their mobile app doesn't even exist anymore. If you look this up on the Google Play store, it's gone. Click their link, it doesn't work. The same goes for the Apple store. They should remove these buttons and fix the app first, then place them back.

At the moment, they're getting people's hopes up for nothing.

In Conclusion

Swingular is a website that can connect swingers with other swingers. It's a place that can offer some stability in understanding that life. However, what they do wrong is the management of their website and making it look appealing to newer people. Especially in today's age, everything needs to look presentable.
